News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch’s salary, bonus and stock payout in the last fiscal year rose 9% to $27.1 million, but a change in accounting that cut the value of his retirement savings diminished his total compensation 14%, the Wall Street Journal reports. News Corp., whose Fox broadcast network and cable-television assets such as FX and Fox News Channel are thriving, handed out bonuses to key executives, the paper says. Roger Ailes, who runs Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, received total compensation of $19.9 million, while News Corp. President Peter Chernin pulled in a total of $29.6 million, the Journal reports.

  1. The officials said that American military drone strikes in those countries had killed some of the plotters and disrupted the plans, but that others were at large and might still strike.

  2. The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
