Russert Acknowledges ‘Dumb’ Remark

Sep 25, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Luke Russert, son of the late Tim Russert, is learning how his words can make him the subject of scrutiny, admitting to making a “dumb” comment on Wednesday’s “Today” show, the Associated Press reports. Hired by NBC News to cover the youth vote, Russert, in an interview with Matt Lauer about the University of Virginia, said, “The smartest kids in the state go there so it is leaning a little bit toward Obama.” Critics said the notion indicated liberal media bias. Russert quickly clarified in a blog post that smart students from any university in the state might vote for Obama or McCain.

  1. Yeah, let’s deny the facts…
Red states have numerous statistical correlations with being lesser educated and having a much lower standard of living than Blue states. Including but not limited to using a significantly higher number of entitlements while contributing significantly less to the general fund (ie. tax base) from which these entitlement funds are drawn. Also smoking, healthcare, poverty, etc. etc. So it is in fact a true statement to say that as far as middle class America is concerned, (and that is a very important qualifier, since many wealthy and therefore educated Republicans simply want to have more and to keep more of their money, regardless of the social positions of the GOP candidate!) the more educated members of the middle class vote for the Democratic candidate…
    Stop denying the truth…
While you may have a right to your own opinion, but you do NOT have a right to your own facts!

  2. What did you expect from another example of the ‘cronyism’ hiring practices of the media. Luke wouldn’t have been hired by a 250-watt station in Barstow if he wasn’t somebody’s relative.

  3. Ewan Mee, your own ignorance is astounding!
