ABC’s Second Shot at ‘Mars’

After a tumultuous pilot production period that included removing David E. Kelley from the project and scrapping most of its original cast, ABC’s “Life on Mars” will finally premiere Thursday, USA Today reports. “Mars” is based on the British series about a modern-day cop who suffers an accident and wakes up in 1973. ABC Entertainment’s Steve McPherson says the new producers “embraced what was wonderful about the series [and] added further depth, insight and vision,” the newspaper reports.

  1. Very much looking forward to this one for many reasons: 1) the BBC original was an inspired, brilliantly-casted piece 2) the scrapped Kelley pilot was not 3) very rarely do networks give out “do-overs” and under the auspices of the production boys from “October Road,” our Yankeefied version of “LOM” could be the best thing to happen to American TV drama since “The Office” was imported a few years ago.
