A Calm, Historic Election Night for TV

Unlike the past two presidential elections, television network coverage of Election Night 2008 proved to be high on history and melodrama and low on voting irregularities, petty arguments and premature electoral vote calls, the Associated Press reports. “It’s the end of apathy,” NBC News’ Tom Brokaw said on air. “People want to get involved in their political system.” The feel-good positivity was felt at CNN, too. “This is a really good candidate, a natural as we say in sports,” said CNN’s Republican analyst Bill Bennett of Barack Obama.
