Couric Talks Palin on ‘Letterman’

“Late Show” host David Letterman, interviewing Katie Couric, never asked the “CBS Evening News” anchor about Sen. John McCain canceling his show to do hers, the New York Post reports. Instead, the funnyman focused on Couric’s well-publicized (and ”Saturday Night Live”-parodied) interviews with McCain running mate Gov. Sarah Palin. The Los Angeles Times reports Couric clarified on-air a question that Palin believed to be elitist in nature. “She claims I said, ‘What did you read up there in Alaska?’ as if people in Alaska don’t read, or don’t have access to reading material … But I never said that,” Couric told Letterman. “I’m aware that people in Alaska have access.”
