The 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike still is affecting the way the broadcast networks are shaping their upcoming schedules, MediaLife Magazine reports. After some first-year shows left the air for a strike-induced break, many of them failed to recapture their audiences in the spring or fall, and the shortened development season has brought few breakaway hit shows for the networks, the magazine says. In order to claim some success, many networks have begun approaching smaller, niche programming similar to cable networks, MediaLife says.
