Actor Matt Smith, 26, has been chosen to be the 11th Doctor Who, making him the youngest choice for the role on the British science-fiction program, Daily Variety says. He succeeds David Tennant and will be seen in 2010 when the next full series debuts on British television. The pick ends rumors that a woman might be chosen as the next Doctor Who, with Catherine Zeta Jones named as a possible choice. Smith had made his television debut in a 2006 adaptation of Philip Pullman’s “The Ruby in the Smoke” novel.
