New York station WPIX-TV bought 18 video cameras and gave them to journalism students who might be able to help out in breaking news situations, the Associated Press reports. The students won’t be paid, but will get to see their work on a professional outlet. “I don’t feel like I’m being taken advantage of, by any means, because I’m getting something out of this,” longtime CBS News executive Marcy McGinnis, now associate dean at Stony Brook University’s journalism school, tells the wire service.

  1. Oh, sure. Tribune can’t pay their bills or buy equipment for the hopelessly out of date TV stations they own, but they can buy cameras and give them away to students. Jeez, this company is amazing. And not in a good way.
