Parents Television Council Objects to CBS’ New $#*! Sitcom

May 20, 2010  •  Post A Comment

The Parents Television Council is upset with CBS over the new series it ordered for the fall schedule, "$#*! My Dad Says," reports B&C.

The name of the show is based on one man’s Twitter account which was called "Shit My Dad Says."

Despite the censored name, and CBS asking the press to call it "Bleep My Dad Says."

PTC issued an email statement saying they would "wage an unrelenting campaign" against advertisers of the sitcom, as well as challenge the license of every affiliate that airs the show or commercials for the show it before 10 p.m. EST.

PTC President Tim Winter said in the statement, “CBS intentionally chose to insert an expletive into the actual name of a show, and, despite its claim that the word will be bleeped, it is just CBS’ latest demonstration of its contempt for families and the public."

  1. Way to go, Tim! Keep this (bleep) up all summer and this show will be a smash hit!!!
PLEASE concentrate on policing your own family’s viewing habits and stop trying to make decisions for mine!

  2. This is so horrible, but please can we have more shows that show closeups of people being shot, maimed and raped because that is so much better for kids to see.

  3. Tim, I’m so glad you’re out there protecting me from myself, because I’m too stupid to know what I should and shouldn’t watch on TV. Besides, I’m probably a heathen, too, and God will punish me because I chose the wrong TV show to watch. Here comes Hellfire and Brimstone! EEK!

  4. Good lord! These people need hobbies. Um, Tim, CBS will monitor the content of the show, alright? You should be less concerned about your kid seeing the word “shit” on broadcast TV and be more concerned if your kid types “shit” into a Google search…and even at that point, you probably shouldn’t be that concerned. In fact, JUST DON’T BE CONCERNED. Good talk.

  5. 1. I follow that Twitter account. The postings have come less frequently since the announcement of the TV series.
    2. I think a show based on this is really going to suck, even with William Shatner in it.
    3. It sounds like the PTC is declaring a jihad against CBS and its affiliates.
    4. I think old Jim needs a BJ to get calmed down….

  6. The name of the show is going to be “Shat My Dad Says,” as it stars William Shatner. Yes, shat is past tense for shit, but what are the chances a 7 yr old knows that? And really, when did we pop back in to witch-hunt puritan America? I watch stuff on Showtime and HBO that would curl my grandma’s hair. What, kids can’t access those shows just as easily? It’s called a remote. And it’s called parenting.

  7. We’re losing one of you highest rated shows, Ghost Whisperer for this kind of show. No wonder cable is getting all the viewers.
    Keep Ghost Whisperer, lose this

  8. Golly gee willikers, thank you for policing the airwaves! Those poor innocent children’s eyes might get hurt by seeing $#*!
(You better never take them in public, they might overhear something a little stronger.)
Have you ever seen a Disney or Nickelodeon show? Wow, they say things like “Son of a!” and “Crap!” How can you protect those poor fragile children?
This is a stupid concept for a show, but the title is the least of it’s problems.
PTC, parent your OWN children, not mine.

  9. Gee people, I am really excited over this quality television show that not only children can watch and learn by, but I can only imagine the plot for this story as well. There is a reason why I watch NETFLIX downloads instead of television. All we are getting on television now days are violent cop shows, lawyer shows, medical shows and stupid comedies that really are so funny that they have to have a laugh track added to remind you to laugh. This is really pathetic. And they are taking off GHOST WHISPERER which is a great television show for this???

  10. Tim really needs to get laid.

  11. Wow, amazing blog layout! How long have you been blogging for? you make blogging look easy.

  12. I really like the colors here on your blog. did you design this yourself or did you outsource it to a professional?

  13. I love the expression. Everyone needs to express there own opinion and feel free to hear others. Keep it up 🙂
