Report: Paula Abdul to Return to Primetime in CBS Talent Competition

May 24, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Paula Abdul will return to primetime as a judge on a talent competition show on CBS. It’s another scoop by our good friend–and former TVWeeker–James Hibberd at his Live Feed blog that he writes for The Hollywood Reporter.

Abdul will also serve as executive producer, creator partner, coach and mentor on the program, called "Got to Dance," which is based on a U.K. hit.

The program is described as the first all-genre, all-ages dance competition, promising moves ranging from break dancing to tango. The show is expected to air in midseason, raising the possibility that the program will compete directly against "American Idol," on which Abdul used to serve as a judge, Hibberd reports. adding that he expects CBS to announce the Abdul deal today, Monday, May 24th.

The 2010-11 season will also be the first year that "Idol" won’t have Simon Cowell on as a judge.

  1. I am sorry to see this. I was really hoping she would join Simon on X-Factor
