‘Wire’ Alum to Join Showtime’s ‘The Big C’

Idris Elba, who played the economics-studying Baltimore drug lord Stringer Bell on "The Wire," will join Showtime’s "The Big C" when it debuts in the summer, reports EW.com’s The Ausiello Files

Elba will appear as the love interest for Laura Linney’s married and cancer-stricken character.

He’ll appear in at least four episodes of the dark comedy, which will debut Aug. 16. Linney stars in the show about a suburban mom whose life changes when she’s diagnosed with cancer.
