An animated version of the film "Napoleon Dynamite" has been picked up by Fox, as well as the animated "Allen Gregory," which will star "Superbad" actor Jonah Hill as a child prodigy, reports TheWrap.com’s TVHunter blog.
"Napoleon Dynamite," based on the 2004 film, will be written by the movie’s writers, the husband-and-wife team of Jared and Jerusha Hess, the story says. They’ll also executive produce the animated version for 20th Century Fox TV along with "Simpsons" former showrunner Mike Scully. Also returning to the animated program will be many of the actors from the film, such as Jon Heder, who will voice the characters in the show, the story notes.
"Allen Gregory," meanwhile, is from 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment and focuses on a 7-year-old genius. Fox has ordered seven episodes. Both animated shows are slated for the 2011-12 TV season, the story notes.
