For some ratings-challenged television shows, the newest Nielsen DVR playback ratings may come just in time, proving that there are fans out there watching those shows, The New York Times reports.

Among the shows expected to be helped by the figures–and needing it most–are NBC’s "The Event" and "Parenthood" as well as Fox’s "Fringe,"

In the latest figures CBS’s "Hawaii Five-0" added the most viewers–3 million more–and CBS, which is already in first place for the season, did the best overall with eight of the top 15 shows in terms of added viewers through playback.

Also picking up substantially more viewers in figures released for the third week of the fall season are the already strong "Grey’s Anatomy" and "Modern Family" on ABC. In addition, NBC’s numbers for “The Office” and “30 Rock” improved significantly with DVR viewing added, as did CBS’s “The Mentalist.”
