Longtime Media Journalist Appointed Editorial Director of Adweek, Mediaweek and Brandweek

e5 Global Media has named a longtime media journalist to the post of Editorial Director of the trade publications Adweek, Mediaweek and Brandweek, Mediaweek reports.

It’s Michael Wolff, who wrote a media column for New York Magazine for six years, before joining Vanity Fair as in 2005.

In 2007 he co-launched Newser on the Web, and published a biography about Rupert Murdoch titled, "The Man Who Owns the News."

Wolff has won two prestigious National Magazine Awards in is career.

Wolff’s official title is editorial Director of AdweekMedia, and he starts his new job immediately.

According to the article, " ‘There is no editor and writer that has more passion and edge about the media business than Michael Wolff,’ said Richard Beckman, CEO of AdweekMedia parent e5 Global Media, in announcing Wolff’s hire. Beckman said e5 would be making a significant investment in its print and digital businesses to make them ‘the absolute cutting edge’ industry voice.

Said Wolff, according to the story, “This is the opportunity we have—to not only be great for the media business, [but also] put ourselves in the sweet spot of what we’re covering. But most of all I want to have a lot of fun covering it. I want to make some trouble.”
