As NBC-Comcast Deal Nears Closing, Many Will Be Watching the Comcast-DirecTV Retrans Dispute That Has Caused G4 to Be Dropped From DirecTV as of Today, Nov. 1

DirecTV is pulling a network from its lineup after carriage negotiations failed to produce an agreement between the satellite provider and the network’s owner, according to TheWrap.com.

On Saturday, Kevin Pereira, host of G4’s "Attack of the Show," revealed that DirecTV had failed to come to terms with Comcast, G4’s owner. DirecTV reportedly planned to pull G4 from its lineup today, Monday, Nov. 1, 2010.

Comcast reportedly sought increased fees for G4 to reflect its growth over the past few years.

WIth Comcast under the regulatory microscope as it closes in on its NBC deal, many observers will look to see how Comcast handles this dispute with DirecTV.

Amelia Stewart, Comcast’s vice president of media relations and corporate communications, told the publication, "We have been trying to engage DirecTV in fair and reasonable discussions to continue to carry G4. G4 offered DirecTV the same basic deal we have had for the past three years. However they still plan to drop the network and deny G4 fans the only network that focuses on the popular gaming lifestyle."

  1. Last year it was Versus that Comcast denied DirecTV customers through almost the entire Hockey season! This year G4. Wait until Comcast controls NBC, with NFL and the Olympics. This is just the beginning of the Comcast Monopoly that will send more people to the internet and away from traditional television. People need to contact their Congressmen while there is still a slim chance to stop the Comcast/NBCU merger.

  2. I just live how you run this blog, I wish that you posted more.

  3. I am extremely impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it’s rare to see a nice blog like this one these days.. 🙂

  4. I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  5. Neat blog layout! Very easy on the eyes.. i like the colors you picked out
