"The Biggest Loser" revealed its two new trainers on Tuesday evening, a celebrity trainer with martial arts expertise and a female professional boxer, reports EW.com’s Inside TV blog.
Brett Hoebel, the celebrity trainer, tells the publication that he battled weight problems as a child, noting that "I was not born with a six-pack. I was 50 lbs. overweight." He added, "I’m just saying there’s something about having gone through that and being ostracized for that that you just can’t replicate," noting that he overcame his weight problems through diet, training and changing his attitude.
The other trainer, Cara Castronuova, who has won two Golden Gloves championships, said hat she comes from "a very obese family that struggled with their weight and through a lot of obesity-related diseases." Her father, who was obese, died when she was 14, she notes. "I knew in my heart that if he had lost weight, he probably wouldn’t be dead," she said, according to the piece.
Both new trainers said that their biggest challenge is Rulon Gardner, the Olympic gold medalist, whom Castronuova describes as "en enigma and a puzzle to me because he’s so guarded."
