After receiving more than a half-dozen offers, actor Jason Isaacs, who plays Lucius Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" movies,  has signed on for the lead role in an NBC drama pilot, reports Deadline.com.

Isaacs will also serve as a producer on the project, titled "REM," which comes from "Lone Star" creator Kyle Killen and 20th Century Fox TV, the story notes.

The pilot is described as an "Inception"-style thriller, with Isaacs starring as a police officer who wakes up to learn he’s living in two realities, the article says. The casting of Isaacs in the lead lifts a contingency on the pilot, it notes.

Isaacs had been pursued in the 2009 pilot season but wasn’t able to commit because of his work in the "Harry Potter" films, the article adds. Last season he received eight offers and signed on for Fox’s "Pleading Guilty," the story says.
