Actress Lindsay Lohan was formally charged Wednesday with felony grand theft in connection with the alleged theft of a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry store in Venice, Calif., People magazine reported.
The L.A. District Attorney confirmed that one felony count had been filed against Lohan, the story says.
Lohan, 24, was expected to appear in court for her arraignment Wednesday afternoon, with that appearance closely followed by media outlets such as TMZ.com. She faces the possibility of as much as three years in prison if she is convicted.
Her bail was reportedly set at $20,000.
