As viewers continue to seek out news about the disaster in Japan, CNN notched a rare prime-time ratings victory over Fox News on Wednesday night, reports the New York Times’ Media Decoder blog.
CNN’s lineup averaged 679,000 viewers between the ages of 25 to 54, more than Fox News’ 644,000 viewers, the story notes.
All of CNN’s programs, which focused on covering Japan, showed improvements, the article adds.
Airing live footage from Tokyo, Anderson Cooper’s 10 p.m. show had an "across-the-board win" over Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren. Cooper’s show drew 916,000 viewers in the 25-54 demographic, while attracting 1.986 million total viewers.
