One day after veteran producer Rick Kaplan said he was leaving the newscast, "CBS Evening News" has named a new executive producer, reports TVNewser.com.

CBS News veteran Patricia Shevlin has been tapped to fill the roll and will start with new anchor Scott Pelley, who debuts June 6.

Shevlin is currently the executive producer of the CBS Evening News Weekend Editions, the piece notes. She has worked at CBS News since 1973 and has held her current job since 2000.

As previously reported, Kaplan, whose career spans back to working with Walter Cronkite at CBS, said he would be leaving the network this week.
