CNN has named one of the network’s political veterans to be the new Washington bureau chief, The New York Times reports.

The position will be taken by CNN’s political director, Sam Feist, who has experience as producer of "Crossfire," "Inside Politics" and "Wolf Blitzer Reports."

In an internal memo, Ken Jautz, executive in charge of CNN/U.S., said today, “Sam has a unique combination of skills that will allow him to not only lead the bureau, but to strengthen it and build on the successes of the last election.”

The previous bureau chief, David Bohrman, became CNN’s chief innovation officer last March.
