CNN has named a new chief White House correspondent, who replaces Ed Henry following his departure for Fox News last week, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jessica Yellin, who has been with CNN since 2007, takes over the job effective immediately. She started at CNN as a Capitol Hill correspondent and was promoted to national political correspondent in 2009.

In a statement, CNN Washingon bureau chief and Senior VP Sam Feist said: “Jessica Yellin has emerged as one of the leading political reporters in Washington. Jessica’s assertiveness along with her clever insight made her one of the top reporters of the 2008 campaign and has already set her apart in her reporting on the 2012 campaign.”
