News Corp. Chief Operating Officer Chase Carey, speaking at a media conference on Tuesday, noted that the company is trying to capitalize on its huge library of episodes of "The Simpsons" — and one idea is to create a digital channel featuring nothing but the animated Fox program, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Company Town blog.

News Corp. needs to tap a show that is "unique in television with a volume too that is unprecedented," Carey said at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media Communications & Entertainment Conference in Beverly Hills, the piece notes. He said there have been a "number of meetings" to figure out how to capitalize on the company’s library of "The Simpsons," which is about to debut its 23rd season on Fox, the piece notes.

Any platform created for "The Simpsons" may have to wait for the show to stop creating new episodes, since rerun deals created years ago are still in effect, the article points out.
