After weeks of speculation, a deal has reportedly been closed to bring the creator of “The Drew Carey Show” on board with the new Charlie Sheen comedy, Deadline.com reports.

“Carey’s” Bruce Helford will serve as writer, exec producer and showrunner on “Anger Management,” according to the report. The sitcom is based on the Jack Nicholson-Adam Sandler movie of the same name. Sheen will be playing Nicholson’s character, an expert in teaching others how to handle anger issues.

The program will be produced by Lionsgate TV, Joe Roth’s Revolution Studios and Sheen manager Mark Burg’s production company, Evolution Management. The next step is shopping the package to the networks, which is expected to happen next week.
