Starz has given a renewal to one of its shows even before the series debuts for its first season, reports TVLine.com.

The show is "Boss," a new drama starring Kelsey Grammer. The first season of the series is slated to premiere Oct. 21, the story says.

The series stars Grammer as Tom Kane, a Chicago mayor with a dark secret, the piece adds. "Boss" will begin production on its second season in early 2012.

Starz has renewed a program ahead of its premiere before: The network ordered a second round of "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" before the drama made its 2010 debut, the article points out.
