ABC to Meet with Groups Protesting Upcoming Series

Dec 21, 2011  •  Post A Comment

ABC will meet with representatives from two groups that are protesting an upcoming series on the network, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker blog.

The show is "Work It," which features two manly men who wear drag to find employment as women. As previously reported, "Work It" has sparked disapproval from the Human Rights Campaign and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

According to the Los Angeles Times, ABC executives had no comment and plan to debut the series on Jan. 3. GLAAD is concerned that the show will contribute to a phobia of transgender people, and will also add to the idea that transgender people are comedic, the piece reports.
