Battle Heats Up Over Muslim Reality Show

A battle is raging over the TLC reality show “All-American Muslims” after Lowe’s Home Improvement pulled its ads from the show in response to pressure from a conservative Christian group, as previously reported.

ABC News reports that the Christian group, the Florida Family Association, has had its website hacked and has received a flood of threats. The group’s executive director, David Caton, is standing firm, calling the hackers “terrorists.”

The hacking has been attributed to an international hacking group known as “Anonymous.”

Said Caton: "I think this proves the point that we’re trying to make that there’s a terrorist response to the ideology of free speech in America as it relates to values on the Christian side of the spectrum. I’ve probably gotten close to 1,800 emails, most of which are calling me the worst of names and threatening me."

Lowe’s, meanwhile, was under fire on a number of fronts, being targeted by boycotts and signature campaigns. A MoveOn.org campaign reportedly had gathered more than 25,000 signatures by Tuesday afternoon.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations had harsh words for both the Florida Family Association and Lowe’s. Said Dawud Walid, executive director of the group’s Michigan chapter: "They’re part of the 1 percent of intolerance in America and we’re part of the 99 percent. And Lowe’s, unfortunately, gave in to that 1 percent of fringe hate in America."

  1. How can Caton talk about free speech when he is trying to censor TLC, Lowe’s and Muslims. What a phoney.

  2. Does not Lowe’s have the right to advertise or not advertise as it wishes? In my America, it does.

  3. MoveOn.org_ers have a great gig–they just sit in their plastic web lawn chairs all day and conjure up companies or people to boycott, harass, slander for political convenience; and get all expenses paid by the Soros funding set firmly into place. If they need to intimidate some senior citizens or push down some old vet selling patriotic buttons; there is always the SEIU hoodlums available on speed dial to call.

The “Christian” group, the Florida Family Association have a great gig–they just sit in their plastic web lawn chairs all day and conjure up companies or people to boycott, harass, slander for political convenience; and get all expenses paid by the “right-wing” funding set firmly into place. If they need to intimidate some senior citizens or push down some old vet selling patriotic buttons; there is always the Koch hoodlums available on speed dial to call.
    Works both ways…

  5. Do we have a reality show on their televison? Are we allowed to walk around their country safe and sound I think not. Did our boys not die in this country to free them. GO HOME!
