A new family comedy from "Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler, a writer on the show’s third season, has tapped Broadway star Andrew Rannells for a lead role, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s The Live Feed blog.
Rannells, who earned a Tony nomination for his work in "Book of Mormon," would be one of the three stars of the untitled project about a gay couple and a woman who becomes their surrogate, the story notes.
NBC won the project after a bidding war, with the network agreeing to a significant penalty commitment, the piece adds. Murphy would direct the pilot if the project moves forward.
