There’s a reason why Jennifer Lopez didn’t present at the Golden Globes awards show on Sunday night: a threat that she would be banned from the Oscars in February, reports the New York Post’s Page Six.

Lopez reportedly pulled out of the Globes after being warned by her agent that she might be banned from the Oscar stage if she presented at yesterday’s awards show, the piece notes.

A representative for Lopez didn’t respond for comment, while representatives for the Globes say they didn’t have a shortage of top-wattage presenters, the piece notes.

Tom Sherak, the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said in a statement, “The academy has always placed a premium on exclusivity, but, ultimately, each individual makes his or her own decisions.”
