A well-known comedian was hospitalized after having a heart attack just before he was set to take the stage, reports TMZ.com.

Gallagher, known for smashing watermelons during his act, suffered the heart attack just before a scheduled show in Texas, the piece adds. The heart attack was described as a "mild to serious" episode by his manager.

The 65-year-old comedian was expected to remain in the hospital for a few days.

Gallagher collapsed on stage in Minnesota about a year ago with what was then described as a mild heart attack.

  1. Oh wow, I didn’t even know Gallagher was still around; hope he’s okay though.

  2. I would have thought swinging all those sledgehammers would have kept him in good shape! He takes a lot of crap for being a gimmick comic but he’s always worth a chuckle & I hope he’s okay.
