One of the world’s top technology firms is considering an online pay-television service that will operate on TVs, computers and mobile devices, reports Bloomberg. The company is chipmaker Intel Corp.
Intel is talking with media companies including cable networks about securing rights to broadcast programs, the story notes. Intel is considering selling a Web-connected set-top box that would stream TV shows and offer video-on-demand, according to the article.
An Intel representative declined to comment. The chipmaker’s inquiries are at an early stage and it’s not known whether Intel will gain the rights it needs to debut the service, the piece adds.
