A correspondent for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" is getting a comedy special on Showtime, reports Deadline.com.

The one-hour comedy special, "Larry Wilmore’s Race, Religion and Sex," may lead to more, with a possible second show being considered for airing before the presidential elections in November, the story says.

The show will use a town-hall format, with a mix of interviews, panels and guest stars, as well as "man on the street" field pieces, the story says. The special will be shot in Salt Lake City in front of a live audience.

Wilmore, the Emmy-winning creator of “The Bernie Mac Show,” serves as “Daily Show’s” “senior black correspondent,” the story notes. He also co-created “The PJs.”
