Former CBS Network TV Entertainment Group President Nancy Tellem is in talks to join Microsoft in a role that would help the software company turn its Xbox and Zune platforms into bigger distribution outlets for TV and movie content, according to media reports.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that Microsoft refused to comment on Tellem, who left CBS two years ago and since then has worked as a senior adviser to CBS Chief Executive Leslie Moonves.

The report notes: "[S]ome say she’s an obvious fit because of her familiarity with digital media and her deep connections in Hollywood, crucial if she’s expected to battle with the likes of Netflix and Apple iTunes, which are ahead of Microsoft when it comes to the distribution of traditional entertainment content.”

Tellem helped create shows including "ER" and "Friends."
