IMDb Prevails in Battle Over Revealing Age of Actress

A jury in Seattle handed a win Thursday to IMDb in a lawsuit by an actress who sued after the site revealed her age, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Hollywood, Esq.

"In bringing the lawsuit, [actress Huong] Hoang was determined to make a point about how IMDb’s publication of her birthdate had caused her harm,” the piece reports. “As Hoang said in the complaint that she filed in federal court in October, 2011, ‘In the entertainment industry, youth is king.’"

The jury decided that the site hadn’t breached any legal obligations to the 42-year-old actress, however.

The article notes that both sides had their own views about what the trial was about. For Hoang, who goes by Junie Hoang professionally, the case was about "perception, your age, how you look." IMDb, though, saw it as "a search for truth," according to its attorney, and the right for IMDb to present accurate information, the piece reports.
