Chart: Super Bowl Commercial Playback

Millions of viewers used their digital video recorders to watch and rewatch the commercials that aired during the Super Bowl. According to Nielsen Media Research, more than 4 million people played back the spot for Walt Disney’s upcoming movie “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.” Here are the most played-back spots during the game.

  1. Nielsen is trying to pass of these numbers as something they are not (and that is really unlike them).
    Nielsen’s systems do not allow then to measure commercials, only programming munutes that contain commercials.
    Again, these arent playback numbers for the commercials, just minutes where they fell. A single commercial can span two different Nielsen clock minutes. Two or more commercials can air in the same clock minute and Nielsen would have no way to know which one got rewound more.
