Fox Close to Deal With ‘Arrested’s’ Arnett

Oct 15, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Fox may soon be back in business with “Arrested Development” star Will Arnett.
According to sources familiar with the conversations, the network is in final negotiations on a major talent/development deal with Mr. Arnett, who played George “Gob” Bluth II on the late Fox sitcom from 2003 until 2006. As part of the agreement, Fox will develop a series for Mr. Arnett to star in—very likely a comedy—or cast him in an existing project.
Mr. Arnett has been focusing his energies on features since “Arrested” was canceled, appearing in projects such as “Blades of Glory,” “The Brothers Solomon,” “Hot Rod” and “The Rocker.” He has also been in heavy demand as a voice-over actor, lending his vocal cords to “Ratatouille,” “Horton Hears a Who!” and the upcoming Fox animated series “Sit Down, Shut Up.” Also on the TV side, Mr. Arnett has appeared in multiple episodes of NBC’s “30 Rock.”
The likely deal with Fox comes a few months after Mr. Arnett’s wife, “Saturday Night Live” star Amy Poehler, signed a deal to star in a new comedy for NBC from “The Office” creator Greg Daniels.
Over the summer, Mr. Arnett also jokingly urged fans of “Arrested Development” to “threaten Fox” if they wanted to see a movie version of the series produced.
Mr. Arnett is represented by Endeavor and Principato-Young. Representatives for Fox and Mr. Arnett declined comment.

  1. If he only gets one term and one condition, I hope it’s that they greenlight an AD film! That film will be pure WIN

  2. Uh… I believe his name was George Oscar Bluth… hence Gob. 🙂 Anyway, in all seriousness, there needs to be an AD movie. And a show with Will Arnett would also be awesome 🙂
