Versus to Air Lance Armstrong’s Return in Tour Down Under

Versus has acquired exclusive U.S. television rights to the 2009 Tour Down Under.
The Tour Down Under starts Jan. 20 in South Adelaide, Australia, kicking off Versus’ 2009 cycling coverage.
The network will air 30-minute highlight shows each day from Jan. 20-24. All telecasts will air at 4 p.m. ET, except on Jan. 24 when the telecast will air at 3:30 p.m. A one-hour highlight show of the final stage of the tour will air Jan. 25 at 5 p.m. The network also will stream the final stage of the race live at www.versus.com on Jan. 24.
The Tour Down Under marks Lance Armstrong’s return to competitive cycle racing.
“Versus is excited to announce the addition of the Tour Down Under to our 2009 cycling schedule. Not only is the race a great complement to our extensive cycling coverage, but it also marks the return of cycling legend Lance Armstrong to the sport’s world stage,” Jamie Davis, president of Versus, said in a statement. “As the home of cycling in the U.S., it’s important for Versus to offer both hard-core cycling enthusiasts and casual fans the opportunity to follow Lance’s comeback season.”
