Digital Media Expert Ito to Keynote NAB Show Tech Lunch

The National Association of Broadcasters has tapped Mimi Ito, a renowned digital media research scientist, to keynote the association’s NAB Show Technology Luncheon April 22 in Las Vegas.
Ms. Ito has studied various aspects of new media, including production, distribution and marketing, and its effects on children and young adults. She recently completed a study, “Kids’ Informal Learning With Digital Media,” in addition to coordinating the “24/7: A DIY (Do It Yourself) Video Summit” for online audiences to learn more about production and distribution.
Ms. Ito holds doctorates in education and anthropology from Stanford University and is a research scientist at the University of Southern California’s Institute for Multimedia Literacy. She co-edited “Personal, Portable, Pedestrian: Mobile Phones in Japanese Life” and co-wrote “Networked Publics.”
During the Technology Luncheon, NAB will announce the winners of its Engineering Achievement Awards, honoring those who have made outstanding contributions and achievements in the world of broadcast engineering.
This year’s NAB show runs April 18-23 in Las Vegas. The organization recently announced that author Malcolm Gladwell will speak at the show’s keynote luncheon.
