Social entertainment company EQAL and Shinto Tsushin, one of Japan’s leading advertising agencies, have signed a licensing agreement that will bring “LonelyGirl15” and “KateModern” to Japan.
Shinto Tsushin will distribute Japanese dubbed versions of the Web series, in addition to working with a local production company to produce and distribute an original “LG15” social show set in Japan. The show will fit into the “LG15” mythology while featuring localized story and characters.
EQAL has a similar agreement with Polish producers Agora and A2 Multimedia for the “n1ckola” social show.
“We’re thrilled to take the ‘LG15’ franchise to Japan,” Paras Maniar, senior VP of EQAL, said in a statement. “The consumption of online media is growing rapidly in Asia and Japan is the perfect point of entry into this market. We’re excited to be working with Shinto Tsushin not only to distribute ‘LonelyGirl15’ and ‘KateModern,’ but to create a new social show specifically for Japanese fans.”
