‘Idol,’ Super Bowl May Boost News Corp. Earnings

News Corp. is expected to report increased third-quarter earnings today, Bloomberg News reports. The popular “American Idol” and a record-setting Super Bowl broadcast helped the company raise advertising revenues 14% to $8.61 billion, according to the estimates of 15 analysts compiled by the network. News Corp.’s net income is expected to be up 2.2% to $890.5 million based on the average projections of 10 analysts, the network notes.
