Walt Disney Co. is planning to rebrand its Toon Disney cable channel as Disney XD, a network aimed at boy viewers, the Los Angeles Times reports. After the switch, scheduled for February, Disney XD will air action-adventure and comedy series plus sports-themed shows created with Disney’s ESPN unit. “What was clear to me, and clear to us, is we had a huge opportunity to create content that were boys’ favorites,” Rich Ross, president of Disney Channels Worldwide, tells the paper.

Is Toon Disney such a poorly rated network that they need to rebrand? I love that station. They play loads of the cartoons that I remember from my 80’s and 90’s upbringing.
This is GREAT News!!!!
I can’t wait to see the new Disney channel branded exclusively for young girls! When can I look forward to the launch of that cable channel?
I’m not holding my breath! 🙁
