The skit lampooned President Bush, House Democrats and people affected by the recent mortgage meltdown. Among those parodied were Herb and Marion Sandler, a real-life couple that sold its subprime lending company to Wachovia for $24 billion. A caption that originally read “People who should be shot” disappeared before a new edited version appeared on NBC.com.
