Everyone from giant media companies to individuals with a little time and a camcorder are joining the competition for attention of Web video watchers, USA Today reports. The paper sites projections that 187 billion videos will be streamed this year, up 24% from 2008. “Every single month it’s just grown and grown, to the point where a majority of our customers now are not media companies,” Brightcove CEO Jeremy Allaire tells USA Today. “They are people using the Web to market, communicate, educate and inform.”
