YouTube Eyeing Subscriptions, Movie Rentals

YouTube may offer subscriptions as a way to entice more companies to license premium TV shows and movies to the site, Google’s vice president of content partnerships, David Eun, told Reuters in an interview.

The company wants to attract more long-form content, but media companies are skittish about doing so using an advertising model. In addition to possibly offering subscriptions, YouTube is considering a movie rental model like that offered by Apple’s iTunes.
