A GoFundMe campaign to “Protect Betty White From 2016” was trending after its launch by a South Carolina man who said he was concerned about the 94-year-old actress’s well-being in a year that has supposedly had an unusually high death toll among top celebrities.

USA Today reports that the man, Demetrios Hrysikos of Spartanburg, set an initial goal of $2,000 for the campaign, with the aim being to keep White safe until the New Year. He writes in the campaign description: “If she’s okay with it I will fly to where ever Betty White is and keep her safe till Jan. 1, 2017.”

The report adds: “If White doesn’t need Hrysikos’ services, he promises to donate all funds raised to the Spartanburg Little Theater ‘to help craft new stars of stage and screen to carry mantle of the legends that have left [us] this year.'”

  1. He should have helped Debbie Reynolds

  2. What an idiot. Carrie Fisher died of a heart attack and Debbie Reynolds had a stroke. No way this person being there or being with Betty White could make any difference. He is just trying to get people to send him free money.
