A Grammy-winning singer had a run-in with police early today in Los Angeles, then posted video on social media capturing the incident live. In the video posted to Twitter and Instagram, singer Wyclef Jean narrates the activity of officers who reportedly removed his red “Haitian bandana” and handcuffed him during a traffic stop.
“The LAPD have me in cuffs for absolutely nothing,” Jean says in the video. It has been reported that the officers detaining Jean were actually from the Sheriff’s Department.
Jean described the incident as a case of mistaken identity, indicating he was working in the studio around the time another black man wearing a red bandana reportedly robbed a gas station.
The actual suspect in the robbery was reportedly arrested moments later a few blocks away.
