Amazon Studios announced today it is moving forward with a new series from the creator of “Gilmore Girls.” The streaming service greenlighted “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” from Amy Sherman-Palladino, giving the project a two-season order.
It was Amazon’s first multiseason pickup of a new series.
Written and directed by Sherman-Palladino, the series stars Rachel Brosnahan (“House of Cards”) as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a 1958 New York City woman who has the perfect life until she decides to try her hand at stand-up comedy.
The project is executive produced by Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, with Dhana Gilbert on board as producer.
