Steve Harvey is in trouble with the people of Flint, Mich., including the mayor, who wants an apology from Harvey following a trash-talking incident this week on Harvey’s morning radio show.

You can hear most of the exchange in the audio clip below, posted by a listener who began recording after the fireworks broke out. In a key part of the exchange, Harvey tells the listener, who said he is from Flint, “Enjoy your nice brown glass of water.”

The exchange came after the Cleveland Cavaliers lost the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors. The listener, knowing Harvey is a fan of the Cavaliers, was critical of the team.

Flint’s mayor, Karen Weaver, is among those calling on Harvey to apologize.

U.S. News quotes a letter from Weaver to Harvey in which she writes: “While I feel it was not meant to be an intentional hurt or insult against the citizens of this community, it was. We are still going through many hardships and challenges caused by the poisoning of our city. To make a joke out of a tragedy such as this was in very poor taste, especially coming from someone of your stature.”

On the tape, Harvey’s co-host Shirley Strawberry can be heard apologizing on Harvey’s behalf.

Here’s the recording …

  2. Would have known nothing about this if the Mayor hadn’t asked for an apology.
