Actress and director Angelina Jolie reveals in a new interview that she was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, a condition that can cause partial facial paralysis.

Jolie made the revelation in a cover story for the September issue of Vanity Fair. She said the condition was caused by nerve damage, and resulted in one side of her face drooping.

Jolie says she used acupuncture to treat the condition, and it led to a full recovery from the paralysis.

She also mentions that she developed hypertension last year.

Elsewhere in the interview, Jolie, who recently purchased the 11,000-square-foot mansion in the Los Feliz section of Los Angeles that was the longtime home of filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, discusses the difficulties of her divorce from Brad Pitt.

She has recently been involved with directing the Netflix film “First They Killed My Father,” about the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia.

  1. The price of heavy plastic surgery?

  2. There is no evidence that Bell’s Palsy has anything to do with Plastic Surgery. Most doctors believe that it’s due to damage to the facial nerve, which causes swelling. This nerve passes through a narrow, bony area within the skull. When the nerve swells — even a little bit — it pushes against the skull’s hard surface. This affects how well the nerve works.

  3. Bells palsy has nothing to do with plastic surgery, I woke up with it when I was 30. Thought it was a stroke went to put makeup on the left side of face paralyzed, Was having stress with the father of my children he was violent and stole of us, stress brings it on. Had it for 12 months went to naturopath made up bells palsy remedy pricked my finger for blood type. In 3 days could blink slightly and smile again gained full recovery. Don’t comment unless you have endured it yourself.
