Following the suicide of Mark Salling, who played Noah “Puck” Puckerman on the Fox series “Glee,” the child pornography case against Salling appears to be on track to be dismissed.
The New York Post’s Page Six reports that it obtained documents filed Monday by the U.S. Attorney and the Assistant U.S. Attorney Chief asking a judge to dismiss the case.
“Salling, 35, was first arrested in 2015 after investigators found thousands of files of child pornography on his laptop, a thumbnail drive and an encrypted hard drive. One of his exes tipped off authorities after she saw the files,” The Post reports. “He was found hanging in a riverbed area in the Tujunga neighborhood of Los Angeles on Jan. 30, and his death was officially ruled a suicide on Feb. 1.”
Salling was awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty in December. He reportedly faced four to seven years in prison as part of his plea deal.
So, now, we’re just leaving out whole chunks of story in order to rile people up? I’m pretty sure there’s a simple judicial reason for the request for dismissal and that there’s not any doubt around his guilt that’s lead to it. I’m also pretty sure that the author of this story learned what that statute is and decided just not to bother sharing it. I’m seeing some great journalistic integrity, here ????
Not sure but if he was appealing his conviction and takes his life he falls under ‘abatement’ where the case is dismissed because it can’t be retried. Aaron Hernandez’s situation is an example…I would actually look it up but I am just glad this pervert is dead.
I wasn’t really asking for the law to be explained. I was just pointing out that one likely existed, just like the one that did in MA leading to Aaron Hernandez’ vacated conviction, contrary to the unspoken “mystery” angle being presented by leaving the reason out of the article. Point being: The media tends to like baiting readers into anger these days. The attempts to do so are becoming more and more blatant
